American Legion Post 58 has won the IL Department Championship a total of 8 times. The years were 1938*, 1947, 1948, 1949, 1954, 1968 , 1975 & 2008.

Whitey Herzog Field

Whitey Herzog Legion Field, 317 S. 44th St. - in Citizen's Park in Belleville, Illinois. Approximately 20-25 minutes from downtown St. Louis. Take either I-64 to 255 S. OR from the south (JB Bridge) take 255 N. Exit on Rt. 15 East (Exit 17A toward Belleville, past Lady of the Snows). Take Rt. 15 to the Frank Scott Parkway West exit. Turn Right at light. At Rt. 13 (aka South Belt West) turn Right by the Phillips 66 station. Turn left onto Freedom Drive (just across from Dignity marker for cemetary). Follow brown "Park" signs into Citizen's Park. Whitey Herzog is in the back right corner of the park. Parking behind stands.
Whitey Herzog Field is a 1.2 million dollar ball park build in conjunction with the City of Belleville and the Whitey Herzog Youth Foundation. This park is home to the American Legion Baseball League as well as Althoff Varsity Baseball. The facility presents a lighted baseball diamond and stadium seating to hold over 300 individuals. Concessions are also available for those in need of refreshment on a hot summer day. This beautiful new park is located inside Citizens Park in West Belleville. If you haven’t been there already, we invite you to stop by to enjoy America’s Favorite past time.
